What is it exactly ?
A GPS tracker is essentially a GPS, a mobile phone, a shock sensor and small computer encased in a waterproof housing (and an optional siren).
The GPS unit keeps track of where it is and can communicate via the mobile phone to your mobile phone the GPS position and speed as well as a host of other data such as boat battery voltage , unit voltage , shock sensor information.
On the moored boat version information such as bilge pump operation, high water alarm, shore power connection status can be relayed to your mobile phone.
The position information sent to a smartphone – it works on Apple and Android phones – via a txt is displayed as a link that when pressed will open a google map showing the position of the unit.
A sim card is required for the unit’s mobile phone function to work and it will have it’s own mobile number which will send messages to your phone/s.
